installed in 1g DSM

The  kit includes all items needed for installation
1. Lightweight aluminum body
2. Black Knurled Thumb Screw sets boost - no tools are required to set
3. Knurled Thumb Locknut - no tools required to lock
4. Easier adjustment - approx 2psi per 1/4turn means easier fine tuning and resetting.
5. Brass fittings with multiple barbs
6. O-ring seal at lock nut
7. Dual Ball design.  Small ball eliminates spring from "winding up".  Large ball seals air.
6. Universal mounting bracket, hoses, 'T' fitting, plugs & ties are included

MBC-1  Price $29.95  (was $59.95)

How they work:  Boost pressure goes into the MBC and is stopped by an internal ball, spring loaded against the thumb screw.  When boost pressure exceeds the spring pressure, air bypasses the ball and sends pressure to the waste gate.  This slows the Turbine, reducing Compressor boost pressure.  Unlike most electronic boost controllers which are "open loop", just bleeding off air at a set duty cycle, this is a closed loop control system meaning boost pressure is a feedback source.  At boost pressure above about 13, the boost may spike up above the set point, because of pressure dynamics.  A small air bleed fitting is installed into the waste gate line to reduce this.

Disclaimer:  These products can result in major engine damage if not properly installed. The buyer accepts responsibility for correct installation and any damage resulting from installation.  The buyer must insure all other engine components are capable of the set boost.

Why an inexpensive Manual Boost Controller works better than an expensive electronic one:
The Electronic BC sets a duty cycle of time boost is sent to the WGA and time it is vented (like 50% is 50%on, 50%off)  Since the WGA sees boost only 50% of the time, the door is open 50% of the time, letting exhaust thru which slows spool-up.  At high rpm the turbo puts out alot more gas pushing the WGA door open, but the actuator still only works 50% of the time, so boost can drop.
A Manual BC sends no boost to the WGA until set boost is reached for maximum spool-up speed.  Then as boost pressure increases, so does the pressure to the WGA which opens the WGA and lowers the boost.  As boost drops,  pressure to the WGA drops to close the WGA  and causes boost to rise.  So desired boost is controlled much more accurately.

AN AFTERMARKET BOOST GAUGE CONNECTED TO INTAKE MANIFOLD PRESSURE MUST BE INSTALLED PRIOR TO MBC INSTALLATION.  THE STOCK DSM GAUGE DOES NOT READ ACTUAL BOOST. IT MAY READ 13 AT 30PSI ACTUAL! ALWAYS USE CAUTION WHEN ROAD TESTING UNTIL THE MBC IS PROPERLY SET.
